Gen. Keane: This Is the End of Obama 'Appeasement Policy' Toward Iran
Oct 13, 2017 // 2:28pm As seen on Outnumbered Overtime
President Donald Trump on Friday "decertified" the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, which leaves the fate of the deal in Congress' hands.
Trump threatened that he could still ultimately pull out of the deal - which he called “one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into” - if Congress and our allies are unable to come up with a solution.
Gen. Jack Keane (Ret.) said on "Outnumbered Overtime" today that this is the formal end of the Obama administration's "appeasement policy" toward Iran.
"We're calling out Iran's malign behavior, we're going to hold them accountable in the use of their proxies to trample into Lebanon and Syria and Iraq and Yemen," Keane said. "We're not going to continue to put up with this, we're not going to allow them to continue to do ballistic missile testing, which could lead to a nuclearized ICBM."
He added that Trump is specifically targeting Iran's Revolutionary Guard, the nation's most powerful security institution.
He predicted that Iran will react by attacking U.S. troops through their proxies, so they can maintain deniability.
"We should not be intimidated by that at all," Keane said. "The president's on the right path here. He is willing to confront the Iranians, no longer appease them. This is the right strategy." read more
