Trump is making Rex Tillerson’s job impossible, one petty insult at a time
Updated by Zeeshan Aleem@ZeeshanAleemzeeshan.aleem@vox.com Oct 10, 2017, 11:00am EDT VOX
President Donald Trump is taking swipes at his beleaguered Secretary of State Rex Tillerson yet again.
In an exclusive interview with Forbes, Trump said that reports that Tillerson once angrily called Trump a “moron” to White House staff — a claim that Tillerson has not publicly denied — probably aren’t true, but that if they are, Tillerson’s criticism isn’t accurate.
"I think it's fake news, but if he did that, I guess we'll have to compare IQ tests. And I can tell you who is going to win," Trump told Forbes.
At another point in the interview, Trump defended his tweets last week warning Tillerson that it was pointless “trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man,” his nickname for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
"He was wasting his time," Trump told Forbes, evidently unswayed by the uproar among foreign policy watchers that Trump’s public humiliation of Tillerson was likely unprecedented in modern American history. read more

Kinzinger: Trump 'Doing All the Right Things' on North Korea

President Donald Trump is "doing all the right things" in being ready to use a military option against North Korea, if that proves necessary, Rep. Adam Kinzinger said Tuesday.
"One of the things people have to understand, for diplomacy to work, especially against adversaries, is you have to have a military option available," the Illinois Republican, who serves in the Air National Guard, told Fox News' "Fox and Friends" program.
"Otherwise, what forces diplomacy if you don't have a stick option, the carrot and the stick?"
Trump is being unpredictable, he continued, which is "essential."
"You see that in the actions of [North Korean leader] Kim Jong Un, reaching out to Republicans to say 'what's this guy about?' said Kinzinger. "So yeah, be ready, and from a congressional perspective, we have to give the military all the resources they need there is a readiness crisis right now that has got to be alleviated."
On Monday, Trump tweeted that the United States has been unsuccessful in its dealings with North korea for 25 years, and Kinzinger said that in the past, "nobody has been serious" about saying a military option is on the table. read more
